NCAOR scientist and employees namely Dr. Manish Tiwari Scientist 'C', Shri B.L. Redkar Scientific Asst. Gr. B, Ms. Reena S. Naik Coordinator Gr. II and Shri Umesh Halarnkar MTS were presented certificate of merit and Best Employee Award respectively during the foundation day celebration of Ministry of Earth Sciences at New Delhi.
The awards were presented by the H’ble Minister of State for Planning, Science & Technology & Earth Sciences Dr. Ashwani Kumar in presence of the Secretary MoES Dr. Shailesh Nayak, and Director General TERI & IPCC Chairman Dr. R. K. Pachauri
Present research of Dr. Tiwari focuses on application of stable isotopes to oceanography & quaternary paleoclimatology specifically attempting to quantify climate change in Arctic & exploring past teleconnection between the southern hemispheric processes and precipitation over India. To carry isotopic measurements required for such studies, a new lab namely ‘Marine Stable Isotope Lab (MASTIL)’, which houses a Gas Source – Dual Inlet – Stable Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer coupled with an Elemental Analyzer has been established successfully by Dr. Manish Tiwari.
