National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR) hosted a team of journalists from Ranchi, Jharkhand, visiting Goa on a Press Tour on 9 February 2026. During the interaction, Dr. Rahul Mohan, Scientist-G & Group Director, presented an overview of India’s polar and ocean research programmes, highlighting NCPOR’s scientific initiatives in the Arctic, Antarctic, Southern Ocean, and Himalaya.
Dr. Avinash Kumar, Scientist-E, briefed the journalists on Arctic and Antarctic sea ice and its critical links to global climate change. The visit also featured an engaging Science on a Sphere (SOS) session, offering an immersive visual experience to better understand polar science and Earth’s changing climate.
