He observed the advanced infrastructure, including the -20°C storage chamber that preserves precious Antarctic ice cores. These ice samples, drilled during expeditions, hold clues to Earth’s climate over hundreds of thousands of years—helping scientists understand past climate patterns and better predict future changes.
